Join ReaderViews in Sending Books for Soldiers
ReaderViews is a fabulous review service, and is now the official volunteer of Books For Soldiers, which began during the first Gulf War. ReaderViews recently mentioned that:
Soldiers who were deployed were faced with massive downtime and were restricted to their base due to the travel limitations. Regardless of why the military is deployed, the men and women of our armed services are there for us. They deserve our support and if we can make their deployment easier, then all the better.

If you’d like to help ReaderViews, please send in books to the attention of Reader Views (address below) and notify that the books are for Books For Soldiers. In addition, letters of thanks to the soldiers would be greatly appreciated because several of the soldiers do not receive letters from home.

Thanks for running this. As a writer, I have loads of books that I’ve been sending to The Hubs ever since he deployed. This included ARC’s, magazines and professional journals pertinent to his position. He tells me that the team loves everything that I send. He’s read all the books I’ve sent over. In addition, if your readers don’t want to send books, they can also just write that organization a check telling them to go buy books!
By the way, if your readers find a soldier who is requesting books, it only costs $11.99 to send a Large Flat Rate Priority Mail box (available free from the USPS). You can load up to 70 pounds in this box and send it to the soldier’s APO.

Thanks for this info. I didn’t know it was so cheap to send a large box like that. Great tip.
