Avoiding Freelance Writer Pudge!

0

Is it just me? Please tell me, it’s not just me, but when I first started freelancing full-time, one of the things I noticed was a few pounds of weight gain. I’ve learned ways to combat this, of course, but in the beginning the weight crept on sneakily and deceitfully. One thing I found about being a freelancer is that I just didn’t move as often as I did when I was working in cube land.

When I had a full-time corporate job, I parked in a garage and had to walk to my building. The building was huge and I walked to my desk. I walked around the building when talking with coworkers or having meetings. Then I walked out of the big building and to my car. This was all in an average day. But when I became a freelancer? I sat. I sat and blogged, wrote, send out query letters, and called up editors. Sure, I’d get up and do things, but it wasn’t the kind of movement I had when I worked in the corporate life.

Now, I’ve got a handle on the weight gain. I know how to keep my metabolism going, despite this very un-physical routine of my daily grind. I wrote up a few tips on Suite on how to avoid freelance writer weight gain. But I’m also interested in how you all manage to do it. How do you keep fit?
