Interview: Sherri Rabinowitz

Sherri Rabinowitz was always writing, even when she was working at various jobs and trying to make a living. We can relate! I like that she kept at it, though, don’t you?

Enjoy this interview and finding out more about Sherri.

You’ve worked as an actress, travel agent, and customer rep over the years. The perfect writing resume in my opinion! Were you crafting stories while you worked in these jobs?

Thanks, I appreciate that. Yes, I wrote through all my jobs. I got some of my best ideas during slow periods at work. I write long hand and my hand writing is horrible, so I felt safe to write while I was at work. I would be scribbling away about my latest idea and I’d be completely lost in it when my phone would ring and bring back to the present. I was really good at covering my stuff and getting right back on the to work.

There is a lot of time when your acting that your just sitting around waiting for your turn back stage so I would write while I waited for my call. I didn’t write on stage while in a film or TV show because that is not very professional but it helped during down time back stage.

Tell us about your latest book, Fantasy Time Inc.. Do you have a favorite passage you can share?

My book is set in the future, at a time when mankind had been everywhere. We inhabit space and the oceans already and have become so accustomed to it that we are craving for something new. I took a queue from fashion, what is old is new again. (sort of the Carrie Bradshaw of the future.)

A time travel agency, which would be run like a travel agency of the future. It’s a fun story with a lot of romance. I also added some social issues with in the content. Its well hidden though so don’t worry.J

I actually wrote this before I wrote the novel and fitted it in, I just liked it.J

Dennis shook his head, “Your wrong, I know all about you. Anne

sends dossier on our visitors. I know who you are and why your

here. And I don’t care!” He stood up and walked toward the

horses. “I know your beautiful. I have never really cared much for

outer beauty. Its what’s inside that counts. You are sweet, kind

person with a good heart. I care….Is that a crime?”

“I am an art object. Yes, that’s it…just something to admire. My

face is canvas and I make it fashionable by how I paint it, like an

artist with a canvas. To be desirable today you have to do that, and

I’ve learned my place in society very well. I am a work of art and I

sell myself to live. How can you accept that?”

“You forget who I am. I’m a time traveler from your time. Your

past is just that your past. To change it you have to start now, not

worry about who you were but who your going to make yourself

into. Remember that we taught you to be very careful in this time,

that should teach you that every thought you have is very

important. It makes a difference. Healthier we all make mistakes

that makes us human but we have the right to recover from them.

Do you understand?”

She stood up and walked to him. She nodded and the pulled him to

her kissed him. This time it was not on the cheek.

What’s the most interesting book you’ve ever read?

Gosh there are so many, at different ages a new book would become my favorite. I still love them all I guess the most fascinating was The Da Vinci Code, I loved the mix of history and fiction. My favorite classic is a tie between Jane Eyre and Pride And Prejudice. I also love the Harry Potter series very much.

Book you’re currently reading?

I read two books at the same time, I am reading The Lost Symbol and The Devil Wears Prada: A Novel. I just got Prada at a library book sale.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I love to read a lot. I watch old movies. I do Yoga. I am also an avid collector I have good collection of stills and autographs of actors from TV and Film. I also collect poster cards from movies, and Disney memorabilia. I also have a huge collection of records (yes, those black things that music comes from) and books.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Yes, I am the type of writer who needs to have a few things going on and then decide on one of them. I am writing a young person’s fantasy novel, A historical novel and murder mystery. Three of my favorite type of genre’s. The two that are the most likely to be next are the fantasy novel and a historical novel. I have to see which I finish first.

I am also working on my first non-fiction book that is a memoir of my first half century.
