Book Recommendations: June 12, 2015

Don’t you love book recommendations? I enjoy hearing about books my friends are really enjoying, and a Friday is just the perfect time to hear them. Get a book, settle in for the weekend… ah….

I’ve been devouring this series of books by Steven James. He writes about a police detective turned FBI agent named Patrick Bowers who hunts serial killers. The books are intense, I’ll give you that heads up. But really well done and different than your average procedural.

Best of all? There are seven in the series, a prequel, and another book coming out in December. I love a good “binge read,” you know?

I enjoyed Cynthia’s first book and her writing has continued to get better and better. This story tore at me a little. It was sweet and sad and hopeful. Her brand is all about hope, and that’s a good way to describe this book. I found myself crying in places, pulling for the characters, and smiling at the way the story wove in and out of these characters hearts.

If you’re in the creative field at all, I highly recommend this book. I’ll have a review of it coming in the next few weeks here but basically this book is all about how to be yourself in a way that gets people to pay attention.

Creatives are usually people who like to do their thing and not be bothered with “marketing” or “publicity.” But this book helps you zone in on the ways you naturally get people to view your work, listen to your stories, share your art. It’s all about being who you are and not having to “market” in some unnatural way. I found it very helpful.
