Art Affair Poetry Contest

The annual Art Affair Poetry Contest is open to any poet. Multiple entries accepted with entry fee for each and may be mailed in the same packet.

Prize: Prizes: 1st Prize: $40 and certificate, 2nd Prize: $25 and certificate, and 3rd Prize: $15 and certificate. Honorable Mention certificates will be awarded at the discretion of the judges.

Costs: $3/poem entry fee.

Deadline: October 1.

Children’s Writer Writing Contests

Contest offered twice a year by Children’s Writer, the monthly newsletter of writing and publishing trends.

Prize: Prize: 1st place: $250 or $500, a certificate and publication in Children’s Writer, 2nd place: $100 or $250, and certificate, 3rd-5th places: $50 or $100 and certificates.

Costs: $15 for nonsubscribers

Deadline: End of February and October.

Glimmer Train’s Very Short Fiction Contest

Offered to encourage the art of the very short story. Word count: 3,000 maximum. Held quarterly. Submit online.

Prize: Prize: 1st Place: $1,500, publication in Glimmer Train Stories, and 20 copies of that issue, 2nd Place: $500 and consideration for publication, 3rd Place: $300 and consideration for publication.

Costs: $15 fee/story.

Deadline: October 31.

The Emily Contest

Annual award to promote publication of previously unpublished writers of romance. Open to any writer who has not published in a given category within the past 3 years.

Judged By: Final judging done by an editor and an agent.

Costs: $30

Deadline: October 7.

Dana Awards in the Novel, Short Fiction, and Poetry

3 awards offered annually for unpublished work written in English. Works previously published online are not eligible.

Prize: Prizes: $1,000 for each of the 3 awards.

Costs: $25 per novel entry, $15 per short fiction entry, $15 per 5 poems

Deadline: October 31.
